Danville To Host 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
This year's ceremony from the Exchange Club of the San Ramon Valley will feature a keynote address from Iraq War veteran Brian Vargas.
DANVILLE, CA — The Exchange Club of the San Ramon Valley will host its annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at Oak Hill Park in Danville Wednesday evening.
Since 2005, the SRV Exchange Club has hosted one of the region's largest 911 memorial ceremonies, featuring local police officers, firefighters, politicians, and keynote speakers. This year's ceremony will feature a keynote address from Lance Corporal Brian Vargas, who was shot by an enemy sniper in Iraq. Vargas, who is part of the local veterans support group Sentinels of Freedom, will discuss his experiences, and about new technologies designed to improve soldier security.
The ceremony will also feature remembrances from the mayors of Danville and San Ramon, a performance from the Monte Vista High School Choir, 50 youth flags, and free ice cream.
