Danville Launches New Downtown Walking Tour Web App
The Discover Danville web app allows visitors to learn all about the sights that surround them as they walk through Danville.
DANVILLE, CA — Danville has launched a new web-based app to help visitors learn about all the richness that surrounds them downtown. The Discover Danville walking tour app offers location-based pinpoint locations downtown and beyond, offering information and historical tidbits about its restaurants, shops, and historical buildings.
The app also offers historical photos of how certain areas used to look, allowing users to see a past image of the exact spot they're standing.
“This app idea started with our Historic Resource Commission, looking for ways to put people in touch with the Town’s 170-year history,” said Jenn Starnes, the town's communications and economic development manager. “We thought it would also be fun to look around at the businesses here now, and discover that the charming chocolate shop you’re in is next to the early 1900s home of the town’s first dentist.”
