Danville Movie Theater Reopens

Contra Costa County is now in the red tier, paving the way for more theaters to reopen.

DANVILLE, CA — Danville's Blackhawk Movies theater reopened last week.

Cinemark, which operates theaters across California, moved forward with the reopenings as more counties moved into the red tier of California's COVID-19 risk assessment system, paving the way for more entertainment venues to reopen.

California requires movie theaters in red tier counties limit capacity to a maximum of 25 percent or 100 people, whichever is fewer.

Enhanced cleaning and disinfection practices will be in place, Cinemark said in a news release. Masks are required and showtimes will be staggered to ensure patrons can maintain social distancing. Extra fans will help keep more fresh air flowing through the venue.

Seat-buffering technology will ensure parties don't book seats directly next to each other.
