Danville Police Arrest Suspect Who Stole 'Bait Bike'

DANVILLE, CA - Danville police arrested a man who allegedly stole a "bait bike," according to the Danville Police Department.

On Friday, Dec. 16, police placed a bike with a GPS tracker, and caught a suspect at approximately 8:30 a.m. The suspect was booked into jail for grand theft.

With bike theft on the rise, Danville police encourage everyone to lock bikes, and gave the following lock recommendations and tips:

• U-Locks: Very secure, hard to cut.
• Chain locks: Flexible, good for securing to large objects.
• Cable locks: Light, but weaker - use with other locks.
• Folding locks: Portable but secure. Good for commuters.
• Frame locks: Quick security when integrated into the bike.
• Use two locks.
• Lock in well-lit, busy areas.
• Secure both the frame and the wheels.
• Use security bolts for quick release parts.
