Danville Residents Prepare 200,000 Meals For Developing Nations

The food will be shipped to more than 70 countries.

DANVILLE, CA — Hundreds of East Bay residents worked in Danville last weekend to prepare more than 200,000 meals for starving children in developing nations, according to event organizers. Around 1,200 people volunteered Saturday and Sunday at The Church of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, in a collaborative effort among the San Ramon Valley Interfaith Council, Feed My Starving Children and JustServe.org.

Event organizers said volunteers produced Manna Packs, which are a power packed formula of rice, soy protein, vegetables, vitamins and minerals that help combat hunger and malnutrition. The Manna Packs will be shipped to more than 70 countries, where they will be used in orphanages, schools, clinics and feeding programs.
