Danville School Named California Blue Ribbon School

A Danville middle school was one of 31 in the state to be honored by the California Department of Education for its academics.

DANVILLE, CA — Los Cerros Middle School in Danville has been named a 2025 California Blue Ribbon School for its academic achievement, programming, and commitment to student success, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District announced.

Los Cerros is one of 31 schools statewide to receive this recognition, which honors schools that wold have been eligible for the National Blue Ribbon Schools program. After the U.S. Department of Education discontinued the NBRS program in the fall, the California Department of Education established the California Blue Ribbon Schools recognition to honor schools exemplifying educational excellence.

The schools chosen were among the state's highest performing based on overall academic results, subgroup performance, and other indicators of student achievement. Los Cerros was also named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2000.

The school will receive official recognition from the DE and be formally celebrated at the California School Recognition Program in spring 2026.

“This award represents the hard work, passion, and care that our teachers and students bring to learning each day,” Los Cerros Principal Andy Briggs said in a statement. “At Los Cerros, we are committed to ensuring that every student feels seen, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential. This recognition is a testament to that shared commitment.”

“This recognition is a reflection of the dedication, collaboration, and excellence that define Los Cerros and our entire SRVUSD community,” Superintendent CJ Cammack said in a statement. “Our students, educators, and families work together every day to create schools where all learners can thrive, and we are so proud to see that commitment honored at the state level.”

Fourteen SRVUSD were named National Blue Ribbon Schools in past years:

  • Gale Ranch Middle School (2022)
  • Iron Horse Middle School (2022, 2006, 2002)
  • Windemere Ranch Middle School (2022, 2014)
  • California High School (2006)
  • Stone Valley Middle School (2006, 1995)
  • Alamo Elementary School (2005, 1992, 1986)
  • Neil Armstrong Elementary School (2003)
  • Twin Creeks Elementary School (2003)
  • San Ramon Valley High School (2002)
  • Monte Vista High School (2000)
  • Los Cerros Middle School (2000)
  • Country Club Elementary School (1994)
  • Charlotte Wood Middle School (1993)
