See: Helicopter Rescue In San Ramon Valley After Man Falls Into Ravine
Difficult terrain prompted firefighters to call in a helicopter after an elderly man fell Tuesday afternoon near Las Trampas, CHP said.
ALAMO, CA — An elderly man was airlifted Tuesday afternoon after he fell into an Alamo ravine.
The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection was called to Ridgewood Road — between the Alamo Plaza Shopping Center and Las Trampas Regional Wildnerness Park — at 12:15 p.m., according to the air operations agency of the California Highway Patrol Golden Gate Division.
Firefighters and paramedics quickly found the man, who fell into a ravine at the rear of Ridgewood Road, but were unable to bring him to safety due to the difficult terrain.

A CHP helicopter was called to the scene. An officer/paramedic was lowered to the ground and brought him to a landing zone, where San Ramon Valley Fire paramedics treated him, CHP said.
