DANVILLE, CA — Last week, students at Los Cerros Middle School returned to a bold new mural painted by SRVUSD parent John Osgood.

Osgood's mural features a fierce panther leaping out of the Mt. Diablo landscape, under a blue and yellow sky: a nod to the school's mascot, physical setting, and colors.

“This year, one of our goals was to bring some color and Panther pride to our campus,” said Los Cerros PTA president Kristin Wolff. “We envisioned a statement piece to welcome students, staff, and visitors alike.”

The PTA reached out to eight artists before eventually selecting Osgood, who has painted murals across the Bay Area and the entire West Coast from California to Alaska. Osgood recently spoke to Los Cerros students about his career as a professional artist.

“Projects like this give our community a sense of pride, and I hope it inspires more beautification efforts,” said Los Cerros Principal Andy Briggs. “I want our community to take pride in our little school....this is one way to do that.”
