Office of Congressman Mark DeSaulnier to Participate in Congressional App Challenge
The competition is a nationwide event intended to engage students' creativity and encourage participation in STEM fields.

From the Office of Congressman Mark DeSaulnier:
I am pleased to announce that our office will be taking part in the 2016 Congressional App Challenge.
Established by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2013, this competition is a nationwide event intended to engage students’ creativity and encourage their participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields. This competition allows students to compete with peers in their own district by creating and exhibiting their software application, or “app”, for mobile, tablet or computer devices on a platform of their choice. By encouraging and recognizing our nation’s young programming talent, Congress hopes to shine a light on the growing importance of these skills.
The apps will be judged by a panel of local judges who work within the academic, software and entrepreneurial fields. The app of the winning student or team in each participating congressional district will be featured on the U.S. House of Representatives’ website and displayed in a U.S. Capitol exhibit.
The following are a summary of the Congressional App Challenge Rules: students may compete as individuals or in teams of up to four; students entering the competition must submit their app’s source code online by noon EDT on Nov. 2, and students must provide a video demo explaining their app and what they learned through this competition process.

The challenge runs from Aug. 25 to Nov. 2 and is open to all high school students who live or attend school in California’s 11th Congressional District. To participate, and for additional information, please click here.
