Suspected Robbery Leads To Gunfire In Danville

DANVILLE, CA — There were no injuries after gunshots were exchanged during a suspected attempted robbery Tuesday around 6 p.m. on Hartford Road in Danville, police said.

Several people tried to rob four residents who had just parked in the 200 block of Hartford Road, police said in a news release.

The people, who were armed with handguns, drove off in a vehicle, the Danville police department said in a news release.

Police were looking for the armed people Wednesday morning, police said. Descriptions for them or the vehicle were not provided.

A neighbor who saw the attempted robbery exchanged gunshots with the armed people, police said. The incident took place between Rutherford Drive and Camino Amigo, according to police.

Residents were asked to avoid the area, and an alert about police activity was sent just after 6:30 p.m.
