In the second round of the North Coast Section Playoffs, San Ramon Valley came for a rematch against California High after losing to Cal in the regular season.

Both teams started off strong putting up a touchdown on their opening drives. San Ramon forced the first punt in the game and was able to respond with a touchdown going up 14-7 by the end of the first quarter.

In the second, the Grizzlies were able to keep the game close by making it 14 all.

With minutes before the half, San Ramon was able to get close enough to attempt a field goal retaking the lead 17-14. Cal marched down and did the same making it tied 17-17. On the ensuing kickoff Cal recovered their onside kick but were stopped short being forced to punt the ball back to the Wolves to end the half.

The third quarter belonged to the Grizzlies as they scored 14 unanswered points making it a difficult 17-31. Midway through the 4th quarter down by 2 touchdown the Wolves elected to go for the score on 4th down. On a bad call by the referees San Ramon was intercepted and failed to get any points.

The Wolves defense stepped up and stopped the high powered California offense. San Ramon then went on a 90 yard drive scoring a Touchdown with about 2 minutes left to play down by 7, 24-31. The Wolves onside kick attempt was unsuccessful and California was able to run down the clock.
