Union Bank in San Ramon Robbed, Danville Police Help Arrest Suspect

San Ramon police have arrested Adam Stephens, 31, in connection to the robbery at the Union Bank on Wednesday afternoon.

A 31-year-old San Francisco man was arrested on suspicion of robbing the Union Bank on Crow Canyon Road Wednesday afternoon, Lt. Dan Pratt said.

At about 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, police said Adam Stephens walked into the and handed the teller a note saying he was robbing the bank.

He then told the teller he would shoot if the police were notified, and showed a black pistol tucked into his waistband. Stephens, according to police, then ordered the teller to empty the cash in the drawer and into a bag.

Stephens then fled the bank with the cash.

San Ramon police were alerted of the holdup at about 1:51 p.m. A witness told officers they saw the suspected bank robber drive away in a black Toyota Forerunner.

Officers from the Danville Police Department and Contra Costa Sherriff's Office located the Forerunner going north on Interstate 680 and arrested Stephens.

He is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility on $95,000 bail. He was arrested on suspicion of robbery, threats to kill or cause great bodily injury and burglary.
