Village Theatre's Abstract Art Exhibit Ends Friday With Film Screening
The "Driven to Abstraction" exhibit will conclude with a documentary about the mysterious Swedish artist Hilma af Klint.
DANVILLE, CA — March 22 marks the final day of “Driven to Abstraction,” an exhibition at the Village Theatre Art Gallery focusing on five abstract artists from diverse backgrounds.
To close out the exhibit, which has been on display since Jan. 20, the gallery will screen “Beyond the Visible,” a documentary about the artist Hilma af Klint. Klint was a Swedish artist born in 1862 known for her spiritual, abstract, symbolic works. Much of her work was not seen until 20 years after her death in 1944, per her wishes. Her mysterious works have been rediscovered in recent decades to much acclaim, and museums like the Guggenheim in New York City have devoted exhibits to her.
The documentary will be screened Friday at 5 p.m. Tickets cost five dollars, though admission to the gallery is free.
