Woman and Dog Escape Danville House Fire
The fire happened off Montego Drive early Monday morning.

firefighters saved a small dog from a burning Danville home early Monday morning, the Contra Costa Times reports.
Firefighters were first alerted of the blaze on Montego Drive at about 3:15 a.m. and had the fire under control by 3:36 a.m. About 20 firefighters responded to the fire.

The homeowner was in the single-family home at the time of the fire but managed to get out safely, San Ramon Valley Fire Battalion Chief Mike Picard said.
Firefighters responding to the scene rescued the woman's little dog, who was also uninjured.

The woman initially refused ambulance transport, but was eventually convinced by neighbors to go to the hospital, where she was treated for minor smoke inhalation, Picard said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Picard said the kitchen, dining room and garage seemed to have been involved.
