World Poetry Day 2022 Celebrated In The Tri-Valley

Poets in the area are invited to share their art on social media.

DANVILLE, CA — World Poetry Day 2022 is being celebrated Monday on social media in the Tri-Valley area.

The City of San Ramon and Poet Laureate Jenyth Jo invited poets in the community to read a poem in any language and post it to Facebook, Instagram or YouTube with the hashtags #PoetrySanRamonValley, #WorldPoetryDay2022 and #jenythink

One of the goals of the day is to draw attention to poetry and create a collaboration celebrating it.

“Poets Laureate of Danville and Dublin were invited to join us in sharing the spoken word from as many people as possible,” Jo said.

Students from all of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District high schools were also invited to join in sharing.

World Poetry Day is a day to honor poets, revive oral traditions and raise the visibility of poetry in the media, the city said.
