All Eyes on Fifth Street

The section of 5^th Street that cuts through downtown has been problematic for a long time. Not only are there many accidents on the street, but some call it a “barrier” between north Davis and the city center.

Community blogger John Lofland has even posted 16 photo essays on his blog of accidents on that street, including the one pictured in this article. 

Fifth Street has taken center stage in local media during the past two days as the planning commission prepares to take up the issue. Here’s a bit of the coverage:

The road diet will not require an environmental impact report, according to a study. The planning commission will consider adopting that study Wednesday at 7 pm.
