City Of Davis: City Seeks Nominations For Annual Environmental Awards

The City of Davis announced today that it is now accepting nominations for the 28th Annual Environmental Recognition Awards. The deadline for nominations is March 21, 2022. Following review of community nominations, the Natural Resources Commission members will forward the selected awards recommendations to City Council for a ceremonial presentation on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

Awards are given in three categories – business, individual/group and non-profit organization. In addition to these awards, The Environmental Legacy Award recognizes events and programs that have made a significant environmental quality of life difference in Davis over time.

Last year’s award winners were: Former City of Davis Public Works Director Dave Pelz (individual/group category), who contributed greatly to the biking infrastructure of Davis; West Yost Associates (business category) for its sustainable water, wastewater and drainage project and internal environmental policies; Peregrine School and The Episcopal Church of St. Martin (non-profit category) for the school’s environmental curriculum and for the church’s work in environmental justice and climate action work. Village Homes, the sustainable 70-acre subdivision completed in 1975, was the Legacy Award winner.
