First Healthy Yolo Open House at Davis Farmer’s Market July 24

By Yolo County

Healthy Yolo, a long-term systematic effort to improve community health, engage the community and strengthen the public health system in Yolo County, will be hosting Community Open House events throughout the county this summer and fall. The first of these will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Davis Farmers Market, located at 4th and C streets in Davis.

Healthy Yolo: Our Community, Our Future, led by the Yolo County Health Department, is a process where community members come together to share and understand the specific health concerns and strengths of their community, prioritize public health issues, and determine goals and strategies to achieve a healthier Yolo County. Healthy Yolo intends to engage residents so they may have a voice in addressing public health issues in their community.

The Community Open House events will include a walkthrough “tour” of the health status in Yolo County. Community members can then prioritize health issues that are important to them, express their views on the quality of life and identify strengths that can be used to improve the health of our community. The information gathered will help identify and prioritize community health issues and develop a strategic plan to address those issues in order to improve the health and wellbeing of all Yolo County residents. Participants will receive a free re-usable tote bag and be entered in a raffle to win a $50 gift card upon completing a survey.
