Dog Tortured & Killed in West Sac; Bound Legs & Broken Neck

This is the second major act of animal cruelty out of West Sacramento in the pat two months.

Authorities discovered a dog in West Sacramento on Thursday that appeared to have been, bound, tortured and killed. 

The Yolo County Sheriff's Department described the incident as an extreme case of animal cruelty and is asking for help solving the crime. 

A Probation Officer working with a yard maintenance crew near 1720 Merkley Avenue near Westacre Road found the 3-5 year-old, small tan and white, male Chihuahua mix breed. The dog's legs were bound together and its mouth was tied shut, according to a release from the Yolo County Sheriff's Department.

The dog, a stray with no known owner, identification, or microchip was transported to Animal Services and was examined by an Animal Services veterinarian last evening.  During the veterinarian's preliminary examination and x-ray, it was determined the dog's neck had been broken.

In May a cat in West Sacramento was . The Sheriff's Department later arrested a 17-year-old in that case.
