Downtown Chase Bank Robbed, One in Custody
A Chase customer saw a "young blond woman" being placed in a squad car.

The downtown branch of was robbed Thursday morning, police announced on Twitter: "Suspect was taken into custody by DPD Officers. No one was hurt. Press release to follow."
They arrested Paul Michael Schmeer, 29, who is from the Humboldt area. Here's a release from the police.
A male suspect entered the bank and passed a note to one of the tellers. The note stated the suspect wanted money and that he had a gun. No gun was ever displayed or seen by the bank employees. After the teller met the suspect's demands he walked out of the bank with an undisclosed amount of currency. A bank employee followed the suspect to his vehicle parked nearby. The bank employee subsequently called the Davis Police Department and provided a suspect and vehicle description.

A Davis Police Officer working routine patrol heard the call and spotted the car leaving the Davis Area. The patrol officer followed the vehicle to West Sacramento and initiated a vehicle stop. The suspect surrendered without incident.
We received an email this morning from a Chase Bank customer who saw a young blond woman being placed into the back seat of a Davis Police Department squad car. She was not mentioned by police.

“A sign was being posted on the bank’s window that the bank was closed due to an ‘emergency,’” she said in the email. “As I turned to leave, a police officer, probably a detective in an unmarked white car, told me the bank was closed because it ‘was robbed.’”
Thursday's robbery comes just two weeks after the downtown by a man who has not been caught. Police announced yesterday that there is a that leads to that suspect’s arrest.
