Man Pleads Guilty to Davis Chase Bank Robbery

Paul Michael Schmeer, 30, of Auburn, pleaded guilty today to two Chase Bank robberies in Roseville and Davis, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

According to court documents, . He presented a note to a teller, demanding money and threatening that he had a gun. He left the bank with $5,070 and was caught because his likeness was captured on bank surveillance cameras.

One month earlier, on  using the same method. The teller complied and Schmeer left the bank with $4,000.

As part of his plea agreement, Schmeer has agreed to pay restitution for both robberies. He is currently in federal custody pending sentencing.

Schmeer is scheduled to be sentenced by United States District Judge Morrison C. England Jr. on May 31. He faces up to 40 years in federal prison.

The case is the product of an investigation by the Sacramento Violent Crimes Task Force, which includes the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Rodriguez is prosecuting the case.
