Monthly Utility Billing Starts in August
The city of Davis is moving from bi-monthly to monthly utility bills.

Davis residents will soon be receiving utility bills more often.
The city is switching from bi-monthly bills to monthly statements, and will send the first monthly bill at the beginning of August.
"In order to make the transition to monthly billing, the August bill will be a combination of the new monthly bill for Storm Sewer, Sanitary Sewer, Sanitation, Municipal Service Tax and Public Safety charge and the previous unbilled bi-monthly water charges for May and June," the city said in a press release.
The September bill will be the first true monthly statement.
The city says it's making the switch so residents can keep a closer eye on their water usage.
The full press release from the city follows:
To assist customers with managing their water usage, the City will be converting from bimonthly billing to monthly billing in August 2013. The first monthly bill will be mailed out Friday, August 2, 2013.
The current bi-monthly statements bill in advance for Storm Sewer, Sanitary Sewer, Sanitation (garbage and recycling curbside pickup); include Municipal Service Tax and Public Safety charge for the upcoming two months; and bill in arrears for water service and consumption for the previous two months. These are typically mailed to customers by the 1st week of each bimonthly billing month.

The September bill will be the first bill where everything will be monthly: Storm Sewer, Sanitary Sewer, Sanitation, Municipal Service Tax, Public Safety charge and also water charges, both fixed fee and the consumption charges, for July. The meters are read during the first week of the month (i.e. August 1-10 to capture July consumption), and it takes about two weeks to process the data to prepare for billing.
