Odd Fellow's Hall: Davis Music Fest 2012 Schedule

The Second Annual Davis Music Festival is June 23. Bands will be playing at , Odd Fellows Hall, Sophia's, Luigi's, G Street Wunderbar, Armadillo Music & L Street Plaza, and Little Prague. Here's the schedule at Delta of Venus:

Note that there are two alternating stages at Odd Fellows. 

3:00 pm (KDRT Stage)

Melody Walker – Bay area-born Melody Walker’s soulful songwriting and Virginia-native Jacob Groopman’s picking prowess on banjo, mandolin and guitar join together in a duo that is creating its own genre: "Americali".

4:00 pm (Upper Hall)

Yellow Jacket Motel – Yellow Jacket Motel’s drummer, Chris Reilly once told the Davis Enterprise, “It’s a little different twist than the young band made up of baristas and record store dudes.” Considering the band is composed of two veterinary specialists, a ferrier and a lawyer, that makes sense. But what also makes them different is their style: they play straight-up rock ‘n’ roll that reflects influences like Queens of the Stone Age and Bruce Springsteen.

5:00 pm (KDRT Stage)

The Souterrain – The Soutterrain describes themselves as lounge-folk, which is truly perfect: when watching them play, it’s easy to picture them in a Frank Sinatra-style setting in the ’40s, only far more upbeat—making audiences get up and dance, but swoon all the same. 

6:00 pm (Upper Hall)

West Nile Ramblers - They don’t call it “Western Garage” for nothing: The West Nile Ramblers play a relentlessly fun, raucous, jam-party blend of western swing, country and rock ‘n’ roll. The two consistent members of the band are frontman and “Pepper Peddler” Alex Roth and Andy Lentz (Rita Hosking, The Devil Makes Three, Cooper McBean and the Vested Interests) on fiddle.

7:00 pm (KDRT Stage)

Garrett Pierce – Garrett Pierce’s music is literary and haunting in a way that shakes an audience to the core and makes them feel. His way of using dynamics is unmatched, vacillating between quiet, understated singing and sudden, heavy drumbeats and loud, convincing choruses in perfect pitch. 

8:00 pm (Upper Hall)

Dustbowl Revival - The Dustbowl Revival is a Venice, CA-based roots/jazz collective that merges old school bluegrass, swamp-gospel, jug-band, jump blues and the hot swing of the 1930s.

9:00 pm  (KDRT Stage)

Misner & Smith – Misner & Smith, who are returning from a wildly successful show at last year’s fest, are a bright, cutting-edge take on contemporary folk music. With an acoustic guitar, upright bass and exquisite harmonies, it’s easy to find a soul-searching quality that won’t leave you for weeks.

10:00 pm (Upper Hall)

Sea of Bees – Over the past few years, Sea of Bees’ Julie Baenziger has not only become a beloved treasure of Davis and Sacramento—she has toured endlessly and captivated the hearts of music lovers of all types all over the world. She is touring now in support of her captivating second album, Orangefarben. If her heart-stopping, haunting voice and endearing lyrics about love, loss and everything that happens in between don’t make you fall hard, it’s possible that nothing will.
