Pack the Patrol Car: School Supplies For Davis Students in Need

The Davis Police Department's 'Pack the Patrol Car' effort will last between now and August 17. Drop donations off at the Davis Police Department.

The Davis Police Department is collecting backpacks filled with basic school supplies to donate to students in need as the school year starts back up.

Officers will distribute the donated backpacks to local public schools so that they can be given to students before the academic year begins. It’s called “Pack the Patrol Car,” and it's already in motion.

“I have seen the smiles and tears of gratitude from our local families when they receive these backpacks from the community,” said Police Department Youth Intervention Specialist Trease Petersen in a release. “It is such a simple gift that means so much to students of all ages – from elementary school to high school.”

This year we are asking the community to purchase a backpack, fill it with the basic supplies listed below and drop it off at Davis PD.  Patrol officers will then deliver the filled backpacks to the elementary, junior high and/or high schools in their beat prior to the beginning of school.  The school staff will then determine the families most in need and present the students with their new backpacks.
