The Calm Before…
National media outlets have parked vans along the north side of the quad in anticipation of today's events.
A solitary bouquet of flowers and a set of tent stakes rest at the center of the quad as I write this, Monday morning.
Things are mostly quiet at the scene of , with just a few scattered people passing out fliers and speculating on what will happen.
But on the periphery, things are a bit more hectic. It's clear that the world will be watching this moment. National news vans have parked in a line next to the , erecting sets and sending reporters to talk to passing students.

So much uncertainty hangs in the air. I've asked a few people whether or not they think there will be tents on the quad by this evening, and most of them can do little more than shrug.

What we don't know
- Will police be present?
- If so, will they wear riot gear? Will they carry pepper spray?
- Will the university allow people to camp tonight, which is clearly the plan?
- Will we learn more about the chain of command that led to the pepper spraying?
- Will Katehi communicate via the “people’s mic?”
- Will the masses show up in a large wave, or will they trickle in from all sides?
All though many people have opinions, we don’t currently have definitive answers to these questions, and that adds to the building tension. How do you see things playing out?
