VIDEO: Green Day Played in Davis Back in 1989
Back in 1989, Green Day played at the Davis Community Center, several years before the album "Dookie" came out and the band became an international sensation.
I was six years old in 1989 and had never heard a lick of the band Green Day. Five years later, as an 11-year-old, they changed my life.
I plastered my room in posters and picked up a guitar shortly after, never to put it down.
While my Green Day love affair has waned over the last decade, they had a massive impact on my childhood.

I came across this video on YouTube recently, which features the band playing in Davis way before they gained national attention. In the video above, they're playing the song, The One That I Want, from the album, 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours.
In other news, Green Day's frontman Billy Joe Armstrong will be a new coach on the NBC show, The Voice. Life is crazy.
