Dozens lined up to voice their opinions about the city’s rising water rates at Tuesday night’s 9-hour council meeting.
One of the most enjoyable came from a community member who managed to passionately weave in two movie references -- Erin Brockovich and Chinatown -- along with an impression of Arnold Schwarzenneger.
After acknowledging that the water in this town does indeed suck, he went on to say that the cost of this project should not fall entirely on the homeowners, while future developers get off “scott free.”

“You guys are doing a huge disservice to the community,” he said, suggesting developers should help foot the bill, because they will benefit in the end.
Many others spoke against the hikes for a wide variety of reasons, while another faction spoke in favor of the development, citing the city’s poor water quality and the project’s potential for job creation.
