Rowland Unified to Build Compressed Natural Gas Station for its Buses, Public Use
Rowland Unified plans to open the station up to the public for drivers of compressed natural gas cars and trucks as a way help raise funds for the district.

The Rowland Unified School District is taking its push to go green on the road.
The district, which serves a portion of Walnut, is building a compressed natural gas station for its new fleet of buses, and plans to open that station up to the public to fill up at affordable rates.
“We believe this is a wonderful opportunity to be good to our environment by providing a fleet of 15 new CNG buses that serve our community," Rowland Unified Superintendent Ruben Frutos said in a news release. "In addition, it is a new way to raise funds for our District.”
The new station will be accessible 24 hours a day and will provide fueling for compressed natural gas cars and trucks with pumps operating at the fast-fill rate of up to 3600 psi, according to officials.

The facility will have two storage tanks that will provide separate stations for cars and trucks and for school buses. The district will be able to fill 25 buses in a 10-hour period, according to officials. The plan is to upgrade the station with an additional compressor and expand to 33 compressed natural gas buses.
