The Little Litterbug Swatter

Megan Tran, age 2, has taken to help clean up Diamond Bar parks, one piece of litter at a time.

Name: Megan Tran
School: Diamond Bar TinyTots Preschool
Age: 2 1/2

Accomplishment: Two-year-old Megan Tran is helping to clean up Diamond Bar parks and learning to count at the same time. While enjoying the city's parks with her mom, Trichia, Megan carrys a plastic bag and collects small trash that others have left behind. Megan's mother said that another mother-daughter couple sometimes joins in the small cleanup projects, and both mothers make sure to keep their kids (and the environment) clean by bringing along plenty of hand sanitizer and gloves.

Key to Awesomeness: Megan also learned to count while cleaning up litter around Diamond Bar parks. Her mother, Trichia, who leads the North Diamond Bar MOMS Club, has Megan total up the number of items she picks up and counts them out one-by-one. Trichia said Megan started the practice shortly after she started walking, around the age of 1 1/2.
