2 Teen Boys Killed In ATV Crash In Solano County

A third rider was injured in the crash north of Vacaville, the California Highway Patrol said.

WINTERS, CA — Two teenage boys died and another was injured in an ATV crash Thursday in rural Solano County, the California Highway Patrol said.

The fatal collision was reported shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday on Margaret Lane near Holmes Lane in Winters.

"Officers arrived on scene and determined an ATV with three male juvenile riders, had been traveling on Margaret Lane, east of Holmes Lane, at an unknown speed, when the ATV left the roadway and collided with a tree, the three riders were ejected," CHP Spokesperson David Harvey said in a news release.

The driver, a 14-year-old boy from Winters, and one of the passengers, a 14-year-old boy from Woodside, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names were being withheld pending the notification of their family members.

A third rider, a 15-year-old boy from Winters, was treated at UC Davis Medical Center for minor injuries.

"The cause of the collision has not been determined and is under investigation," Harvey said. "Alcohol and/or drugs does not appear to be a factor in this collision."
