Driver On Car Roof Rescued In Flooding Roadway
The Sonoma County Sheriff's Marine Unit made its first flood rescue of the year.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A motorist stranded on their car's roof was found by the Sonoma County Sheriff's Marine unit during rising floodwaters.
The driver drove into the floodwaters near Slusser Road and River Road in Windsor, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's office.
The driver had climbed onto the roof of their vehicle to stay out of the rising water. The driver was not injured.

However, a Redding man who was killed in Sunday's flooding was told to stop, but drove his Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck past a police barricade before being trapped by rising waters, according to reports. The man called 911 to report he was trapped inside his truck and unable to get out. An officer who tried to help couldn't get him out of the truck in time to save the man's life.
Amid amid flood warnings around Sonoma County, authorities are on guard, cautioning drivers to obey road closure signs and turn around immediately if they encounter a flooded roadway.

Drivers should be careful of floodwaters that can rise quickly, and road conditions may be deceptive, the sheriff's office said, warning motorists not to drive through standing or moving water.
