SEE: Firefighters Rescue Puppy Stuck In Dryer Vent

This poor puppy learned a tough lesson about sticking his nose where it doesn't belong.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA -- There's no telling what youngsters can get into when they're doing some exploring at home, and that truism also applies to young pets, as a family in Vacaville found out on Tuesday.

At 7:54 a.m. on April 11 -- which coincidentally happened to be National Pet Day -- Vacaville firefighters responded to a call for a resident assist due to a report of a dog that was stuck in a hole. After arriving, they found a year-old puppy who was in the process of learning a tough lesson about literally sticking your nose where it doesn't belong.

Lex the pup had stuck his head through a dryer vent hole that was cut into the siding of a garage. The home's resident and her two children had attempted to remove the animal without success, according to the Vacaville Fire Dept., but then gave up and called in the experts.

Although the homeowner was certain that the fire department would have to cut the wall to extricate the beloved family pet, a VFD engineer and firefighter paramedic were able to free Lex from the hole with just some reassuring words and manipulation of the fur and skin.

After being extricated, Lex quickly scurried away with his tail figuratively between his legs, no doubt embarrassed by the entire incident.
