DUBLIN, CA — A 78-year-old Livermore man who was an inmate at Santa Rita Jail died Thursday, according to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.

Daniel Lavi was arrested in November 2019 on charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, according to ASCO spokesperson Sgt. Roberto Morales. Lavi had an "extensive medical history" that included several chronic and serious illnesses, according to the sheriff.

On Tuesday at around 8:25 p.m., Lavi's health declined rapidly, and he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. His family was notified of his critical condition, and were able to visit him prior to his passing.
