79-Year-Old Fugitive Caught 31 Years After Escaping FCI Dublin: Reports

U.S. Marshals located Ronald Keith Harvey in a remote NorCal town 31 years after he escaped from FCI Dublin following a drug conviction.

DUBLIN, CA — A 79-year-old man was caught 31 years after escaping from FCI Dublin, according to reports.

In 1994, Ronald Keith Harvey escaped from FCI Dublin after being convicted of running a large, illegal cannabis farm. U.S. Deputy Marshal Cruz Moya, who’s been in charge of finding Harvey’s case since 2024, told ABC7 that Harvey was growing more than 600 plants, and contained illegal firearms.

Few details are available on how exactly Harvey escaped, or what he did in the following years. Authorities continued trying to search for him, but didn’t have much luck until earlier this year, when they conducted a data sweep and found a new potential address associated with his name. Authorities tracked him down in Nevada City, a small town located about halfway between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe.

He was living with a woman named DeeVee Brown, who told ABC7 she had no idea Harvey had a warrant out for his arrest.

Harvey will carry out the remaining four years of his sentence, and may serve up to one additional year as punishment for fleeing, Moya said. It won’t be at FCI Dublin, which closed permanently in 2024 following numerous sexual abuse scandals. The prison housed men until 2012, when it became an all women’s prison.

Moya said that while some fugitives are better than others at hiding, “We will find you, no matter how long it takes.”
