DUBLIN, CA — A seventh former employee at the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin was sentenced to prison, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Wednesday. Nakie Nunley, 48, of Fairfield, California, was sentenced to 72 months in prison, after pleading guilty in September to sexually abusing five inmates.

Nunley supervised prisoners working at UNICOR, the trade name for federal prison industries, according to the DOJ. In his plea agreement, he admitted that between March 2020 and November 2021, he engaged in sexual acts with five prisoners working at the UNICOR call center. Nunley also admitted to lying to investigators about sexually abusing one of his victims and sending sexually explicit notes to another.

Nunley also admitted in his plea bargain that when one victim approached him about his conduct, he threatened her with transfer to another facility or losing her job. He also admitted to telling a victim she needed to engage in sexual activities with him if she wanted to keep her job at UNICOR.
