Candlelight Vigil Planned For Catherine Kuo, DUSD Trustee, Sunday

DUBLIN, CA — A candlelight vigil in tribute to the life of Catherine Kuo will be held Sunday.

The memorial for Kuo will be held 7 p.m. Sunday at Emerald Glen Park in Dublin.

There will be speeches from a pastor, Kuo's sister, a family friend and Dublin Unified School District board president Dan Cherrier. Guests may also offer comments and place a flower into a basket in her honor, organizers said.

People may bring a candle and lighter, battery-powered candle or a smartphone candle app in case of wind. Guests may bring posters or restaurant gift cards for Kuo's family.

Kuo, 48, was a wife and mother of two who called Dublin home for more than two decades. As a Dublin Unified School District trustee, she sought to create better opportunities for local youth, particularly girls and minority students, according to her bio. She was remembered as a woman of faith, and role model for Asian American and Pacific Islander students who worked tirelessly to serve her community and family.

Kuo was born in Redwood City and raised in Saratoga. She received a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles.

She was volunteering at Fallon Middle School Wednesday when she was involved in a car crash. Kuo soon succumbed to her injuries.
