Dublin, Oakland Animal Shelters Hosting Fee-Waived Adoptions Saturday
The Dublin and Oakland East Bay SPCA Adoption Centers are both taking part in California Adopt-a-Pet Day on Saturday.
DUBLIN, CA — If you're in search of a new furry friend, head to the East Bay SPCA Adoption Center in either Dublin or Oakland, which are both hosting fee-waived adoptions event this Saturday.
The shelters are joining more than 150 California animals shelters waiving fees Saturday as part in the second annual California Adopt-a-Pet Day. In 2024, the first inaugural Adopt-a-Pet Day resulted in 3,609 animals adopted across the state, far more than the goal of 2,024. This year, event organizers from the California Animal Welfare Association, the California Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals are hoping that 5,000 animals will be adopted on June 7.
“We’re excited to participate in this important event, which we hope will highlight the many deserving and incredible animals in our care who are seeking new homes,” Karalyn Aronow, Vice President of Operations at East Bay SPCA, said in a statement. In Dublin and Oakland from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., certified animal trainers will be on-site to answer questions about cat and dog behavior.
