Iron Horse Trail Bridge Overcrossing Installed
Four crews spent 16 hours installing the 105-ton bridge over Dublin Boulevard.
DUBLIN, CA — Four crews spent approximately 16 hours assembling the new Iron Horse Trail Bridge Overcrossing at Dublin Boulevard near Scarlett Drive, the city of Dublin announced.
The $14 million, 230-foot long, 20-feet high free-span bridge aims to create a safe crossing over Dublin Boulevard for pedestrians and cyclists hiking the Iron Horse Trail, and create a smoother flow of traffic along the road.
The installation of the 105-ton bridge was supposed to happen the morning of Sept. 10, but was postponed after the contractor said they did not have all the elements necessary to lift the bridge over the street.

Dublin Boulevard will be fully closed again from Saturday, Nov. 4 at 11 p.m. to Sunday, Nov. 5 at 7 a.m. to pour the concrete for the bridge, the city said. The bridge is anticipated to complete early 2024, city spokesperson Ryan Moran told Patch.
“The City of Dublin is thrilled to have achieved a significant milestone in the Iron Horse Trail Overcrossing Project. It represents the culmination of years of planning, design, and fabrication for the signature structure,” Dublin City Manager Linda Smith said in a statement shared with Patch. “The Iron Horse Trail Bridge crosses Dublin’s busiest road, enhancing safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists while serving as a vital connector for the multi-use Iron Horse Trail.”
