SAN RAMON, CA — Many people feel the best part of the holidays is decorating the tree. But now, Tri-Valley residents can have just as much fun decorating just about anything.

Deko DIY Studio, which just opened in San Ramon and is hosting a grand opening Saturday, offers the chance to take part in "decoden," the art of decorating objects with clay, charms, rhinestones, pearls and more. Decoden, which was originally popular in Japan and South Korea, lets you turn anything - from phone cases to mirrors to picture frames to jewelry boxes - into personalized works of art. Guests choose from a huge wall of charms and use it to decorate either items they bring from home, or items provided by the studio.

"It’s a relaxing, hands-on activity perfect for all ages, birthdays, girls’ day out, date nights, mommy daughter outings, and family fun," said founder and owner Phuong Huynh. "Whether you love cute, aesthetic, glamorous, or themed designs, Decoden lets your imagination shine. No experience is needed—just pick your charms, choose your colors, and start creating your masterpiece!"
