What does the nominee do for work?:
Trinh is a Professor for San Francisco City College and has been holding her courses online. But Trinh and her family have undertaken a task to help fight the virus.
Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
Trinh is a professor for San Francisco City College and has moved all her classes to online. But what makes her so special is that she and her family have generously and bravely answered the call of those in need of protective masks. She and her family have spent close to $5000 in making quality masks for essential workers throughout Alameda County. They have donated 3000 handmade masks to hospitals, senior citizen homes and elderly care facilities. While I am not surprised she and her family have worked so diligently and selflessly to provide masks to essential workers and others who are vulnerable to the virus, I am nevertheless in awe and in admiration of the great work they have done and are continuing to do.

I recall Trinh sharing a touching story with me about how when she and her family arrived here on a boat from Vietnam when she was just a little girl, they were cared for by a Catholic Church who helped them gain housing. Throughout the years, other refugees would arrive to the church and her mom would routinely cook meals for the families in shelter and Trinh and her sisters would help serve them. Her mom taught Trinh and her siblings the value of giving back and helping others in need. Trinh and her siblings continue to epitomize the beauty of helping those in need and regard such a task as civic duty that they carry out with love, joy and passion.
What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:
Trinh has a caring and compassionate heart.
Thank you for all you do, Trinh!
