Sig-Alert Issued On I-580 Eastbound After Bus & Truck Collide: CHP

I-580 remains significantly backed up from Castro Valley to West Dublin after a truck spilled debris all over the road.

DUBLIN, CA — Traffic is severely backed up along eastbound I-580 near the San Ramon Road/Foothill Road exit after a transit bus collided with a semi-truck early Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. A Sig-Alert has been in effect since 6:32 a.m.

A transit bus collided with a semi-truck at 5:53 a.m. Wednesday, according to a CHP log of the incident. The collision busted the back of the truck open, and loads of dirt and debris fell all over the road. Numerous emergency crews arrived on scene, and the right lanes of eastbound 580 west of Foothill Road remain blocked.

Both the bus and the truck sustained major damage, but no injuries were reported, according to the log.

Officials said they don’t expect the cleanup to finish until the afternoon, and significant delays on 580 west of Foothill Road remain as of 12:46 p.m. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
