Waiting for the Bus in Eagle Rock
For many senior citizens public transportation is the only way to get around—and they have much to say about it.

The Eagle Rock residents in the photo above posed for the Patch camera this past week at the bus stop on the south side of Yosemite Drive, adjacent to the located on 4884 Eagle Rock Blvd.
These Filipino Americans are regulars at this bus stop, which has yet to get one of the metallic, green-colored, graffiti-resistant benches that have sprouted elsewhere in the neighborhood lately. The lady seated second from the left on the bench had a request of the government: Please build a shelter at the bus stop. Pointing to a sheltered bus stop on the southwest corner of Eagle Rock Boulevard and Yosemite Drive, she said: “We need a canopy—when it’s hot or it rains we can’t sit here.”
The gentleman in the wheelchair to the right also had a request: “The bus drivers shouldn’t drive off unless everyone is seated,” he told Patch, giving his name as Ignacio Larracas. “Don’t forget to put that in the newspaper,” he admonished, with a smile, adding this warning to Metro about potential damages: “It might cost them thousands of dollars.”
