• East Palo Alto hires company for 24-hour parking enforcement (paloaltoonline.com) — East Palo Alto is bringing in private firm LAZ Parking to provide 24/7 parking enforcement, aiming to ease overcrowded streets and free up the understaffed police department. After resident complaints about abandoned and oversized vehicles, the City Council chose the most comprehensive, $400,000-a-year option, which includes local hiring, a two‑month outreach period, and a community‑focused “ambassador” phase before full ticketing begins.
   

• Peninsula man arrested on suspicion of ramming police car (mercurynews.com) — East Palo Alto residents may have noticed police activity after an SUV allegedly rammed a Palo Alto police car, then drove through gates at an East Palo Alto apartment complex late Monday night. Police say they later arrested a 63-year-old East Palo Alto man at his home on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and evading, and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
