Wildfires: Could Griffith Park Be Next?
Los Angeles is having its fourth driest year ever and that has put firefighters on high alert.

Griffith Park could be next to go in a major brushfire like the one raging outside Malibu Friday.
The Los Feliz Ledger quotes Cpt. Rodrigo Fuentes of Los Angeles Fire Department Station 56 as saying the brush in Griffith Park is "ready" for fire, comparing its dryness to what would be normal in August.
The Ledger also quotes Griffith Park Senior Ranger Albert Torres who says the areas most likely to burn first are the "open spaces where the wild chaparral grows."

But Torres also says the "steep terrain and great open space" put all of Griffith Park at risk.
Over 800 acres in Griffith Park burned in 2007, destroying popular landmarks like Dante's Peak, hiking trails and a bird sanctuary that just reopened this year
