Upcoming vacancies include arts and culture, streets oversight civil service and more commissions.

The El Cerrito City Council is seeking applicants to serve on city advisory bodies. The City has 13 boards, commissions and committees and three regional bodies on which approximately 90 residents serve as members. There are over 30 existing vacancies with more vacancies scheduled as terms expire in March 2022. Upcoming vacancies include:

Members of Boards, Commissions and Committees provide an invaluable service to our community. Serving as an advisory body member can be a rewarding experience for residence wanting to serve their community. It is an excellent way to participate in local government and to make a personal contribution to the improvement to the El Cerrito community. Members are appointed by the City Council for terms of four years. Meetings are generally held once a month during evening hours.
Attendance is required at two of the last three meetings of the advisory body applied for prior to submitting an application. If you are interested in serving on a Board, Commission or Committee, please visit www.el-cerrito.org/commissions to submit an application. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Brief interviews will be scheduled with the City Council in February 2022.

Open recruitment is done year-round should any unexpected vacancies occur, and any applications received after the deadline will be kept on file (for a period of one year) for this purpose.
