Off-Duty Bay Area Police Officer Dies After Medical Emergency

RICHMOND, CA — A Richmond police officer died unexpectedly from a medical emergency, the department said Friday.
Motor Officer Jonathan Platzner died while off duty on Friday morning, according to police.
Platzner had been with the department since 2012.

"Throughout his years of service, he demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to the safety of our community," said the Richmond Police Department on social media. "His loss is deeply felt by his fellow officers, friends, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him."
