An alert resident helped foil a burglary Thursday as El Cerrito police arrested two men suspected of robbing two homes earlier in the day.
El Cerrito Police officers responded to the report of two subjects casing a house in the 1700 block of Wesley Avenue. One suspect was at the front door while the other suspect went to the side yard, when police received a report describing the two suspects and their vehicle.
A motorcycle officer stopped a vehicle matching the description several blocks away on San Pablo Avenue. Detectives found items in the car that match property stolen from two homes earlier.
The suspects, Montonio Robinson and Tyrone Pittman, both 20-year-old Oakland residents, were arrested for possession of stolen property, attempted burglary, burglary and conspiracy and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s office filed the same charges in this case.
