El Cerrito Home Ransacked, Money and Jewelry Stolen

EL CERRITO, CA- Police are searching for a suspect who was reportedly caught on a closed circuit security camera before ransacking and stealing items from an El Cerrito home.

The residential burglary was reported on February 18 in the 1500 block of Liberty Street.

Reports say the suspect broke into the home between 3:05-3:35 p.m. and can be seen on the video pacing around the house, knocking on the door and later leaving the property.

Officials said that after no one answered the door, the suspect went around the back of the home, where there was no camera and forced entry into the home.

“He ransacked the home and left with small stolen items, money, jewelry etc,” stated the report.

The suspect is described as being an African American male, possibly in his 30’s, standing around 5’10”, weighing 180 pounds, wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans and light colored shoes.
