El Cerrito Police Weekend Blotter: 6 Residential Burglaries in 4 Days

The following items have been selected and written by the El Cerrito Police Department

November 8

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 11500 block of San Pablo Ave. 
At 10:53 p.m., an Officer recovered a 1994 VW Golf reported stolen to Richmond PD on Nov. 7, 2013. 

Residential Burglary – 100 block of Carmel Ave. 
Between 7: 30 a.m. and 9:55 p.m., an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence by forcing open the front door and stole electronics and silverware. 

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Manila Ave. 
At 11:08 p.m., an officer made a pedestrian enforcement stop and arrested a 24-year-old Richmond man for an outstanding warrant. The man was issued a citation with a new court date. 

Grand Theft – 225 El Cerrito Plaza 
Between Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. and Nov. 9 at 12 a.m., an unknown suspect stole the victim’s bicycle. 

Driving under the influence – I-80 / Central Ave. 
At approximately 3:25 a.m., an Officer made a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 27-year-old Vallejo man for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend. 

Battery – 5900 block of Cutting Blvd. 
At 4:18 a.m., officers responded to the above location for a call of fight between two groups of females. The Richmond Police Department stopped a group of suspects while El Cerrito Police Officers spoke with the other group. No significant injuries were located and all involved parties declined medical treatment. Both groups were interviewed and declined prosecution of the other group. The case will be forwarded to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office. 

November 9 

Mental Health Evaluation – 6900 block of Stockton Ave. 
At 2:30 p.m., an officer sent a 32-year-old El Cerrito man for a psychiatric evaluation after he was found in the driveway of his residence suffering from a psychological episode and failing to take his medication. 

Warrant Arrest, Resisting Arrest – Fairmount Ave. / Liberty St. 
At 6:42 p.m., an Officer made a pedestrian enforcement stop and arrested a 57-year-old San Rafael man for an outstanding warrant. As the man was being handcuffed, he attempted to flee from Officers and grabbed onto a nearby bench in an effort to thwart handcuffing. Officers were able to get the man into handcuffs and he was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. After booking, the man was taken to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Mental Health Evaluation – 700 block of Midcrest Ln. 
At 11:57 p.m., an Officer sent an 88-year-old woman for a psychiatric evaluation after she ingested pills in an attempt to end her life. 

November 10

Residential Burglary – 8600 block of Thors Bay Dr. 
Between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence by shattering a window and stole electronics. 

Residential Burglary – 1500 block of Madera Cir. 
Between 11:30 a.m. and 3:20 p.m., an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence by forcing open the front door and stole electronics and jewelry. 

Domestic Battery – 11700 block of San Pablo Ave. 
At approximately 2104 hours, an Officer arrested a 24-year-old Concord man after he pulled his girlfriend out of her vehicle during a verbal argument which caused abrasions. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and taken to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Possession of a controlled substance – 11500 block of San Pablo Ave. 
At 9:05 a.m., an officer conducted a suspicious vehicle check and arrested a 50-year-old El Sobrante man for possession of methamphetamine. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released pending lab results. 

Outside Agency Assistance – 1100 block of Garfield Ave. 
At 9:25 p.m., officers responded to assist the Albany Police Department with a fight between two subjects. The scene was secured and the Albany Police Department handled the investigation. 

Residential Burglary – 1200 block of Everett St. 
Between 5:10 p.m. and 8:50 p.m., an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence via an unlocked door and stole jewelry, tablet, and a laptop computer. 

Residential Burglary – 1900 block of Downey Pl. 
Between 4:45 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence via an unlocked rear door and stole cash, jewelry and three laptops. 

Evading Police – Cutting Blvd. / I-80. 
At 10:53 p.m., an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a vehicle code violation. When making contact with the driver of the vehicle, the driver sped away and entered the freeway. The driver turned off the lights of the vehicle and the officer discontinued the pursuit for the safety of other motorists. 

Attempted Residential Burglary – 1900 block of Downey Pl. 
Between4:30 p.m. and 10:45 p.m., an unknown suspect removed the victim’s window screen and opened the window, but did not make entry into the residence. 

Battery – 900 block of Liberty St. 
At approximately 11:47 p.m., an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 30-year-old El Cerrito man after he struck his girlfriend’s brother several times in the face. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

November 11

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 6500 block of Portola Dr. 
A citizen called police to report a suspicious vehicle parked in an apartment complex. Officers arrived at the scene and learned the vehicle had been reported stolen to Vallejo Police Department on Nov. 7, 2013. Officers remained in the area and arrested a 34-year-old Richmond woman as she returned to the vehicle. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Residential Burglary – 1400 block of Rifle Range Rd. 
Between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence via an unlocked door and stole a laptop computer and cellular telephone.
