El Cerrito Woman Found Dead At Berkeley Marina

BERKELEY, CA — An El Cerrito woman was identified Monday as the person found dead in the Berkeley Marina last week, according to the Alameda County coroner's bureau.

Sophonia McLendon, 52, was found floating in the water Monday evening near the former Hs Lordships Restaurant.

Someone called police at 6:49 p.m. April 10 after seeing a body floating against the rocks, according to police. Medical personnel tried to revive McLendon and then pronounced her dead, police said.
